Hey everyone! Been feeling a bit like a hamster in a wheel; very go go go these last few weeks. Have only been able to collect links around some central themes this month. (I am also working on making a fun little photo essay from my two week trip to Romania… lots of thoughts ruminating from that.) Here’s one of my favorite photos from the trip:
It has been nice to begin to just now slow down, feeling the weather cool and slow as well. One of my favorite times of the year is when the days become cooler again, but the sun still struggles to feel warm on my skin. Had some time to consolidate my interesting finds in the park today…

I haven’t been able to stop listening to fred again’s Boiler Room set. Resale tickets in NYC are 6x box office price rn 😭.
I thought this Italian apartment’s fresco walls were STUNNING.
A quick read titled ‘hell is the absence of taste.’
In The Web’s Grain, Frank Chimero ponders the point of technology more broadly — especially how he considers peace, quiet, magic, etc. as empty promises relating to tech. He instead wants ‘technology of grace, one that lives well within its role.’ Sounds like Quality to me!

POLITICS
Friend of the newsletter Connor sent me President Carter’s Address on Crisis of Confidence from 1979 saying it was astonishing how much still applies today. I agree with him… just interesting to watch as I’d personally never really studied Carter.
Bloomberg opinion piece on Germany’s experiment making essentially all trains available via a 9€ monthly pass. Was reading a similar opinion piece in an edition of the Süddeutsche Zeitung I picked up as well, interesting to compare and contrast. Thought it was a novel experiment to try given the pandemic’s, and now the Russian-Ukranian war’s, effect on markets, cities, and movement.
‘a modern malaise’ quotes some of my favorite authors — interesting numbered list structure that I may try my hand at in the future 👀.
The End of Industrial Society by Samo Burja (article voiceover) for Palladium Magazine.
